PATIENT PORTER
JOB TITLE: Porter
WORKPLACE: Mogalakwena Private Hospital (Mokopane)
POSITION TYPE: Permanent
Purpose:
To safely and efficiently transport patients, medical equipment, specimens, and supplies throughout the hospital while ensuring patient dignity, safety, and adherence to hospital protocols.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Safely transport patients between hospital departments while maintaining comfort, dignity, privacy. And infection control standards.
- Assisting nursing staff with safe patient transfers using be, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
- Transport medical equipment, supplies. Laboratory specimens, blood products, and documentation accurately and timeously.
- Handle biohazard materials in accordance with safety and infection control regulations,
- Assist with respectful transfer of deceased patients in line with hospital policy.
- Comply with occupational health and safety standards and respond promptly to emergency transport requests.
Qualifications:
- Matric Certificate.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 year’s experience as a porter in a hospital setting.
Skills and Attributes:
- Physical stamina and ability to safely handle and move patients and equipment.
- Strong understanding of infection control and safety procedures.
- Compassionate and respectful approach to patient care.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations.
