PHARMACIST ASSISTANT
JOB TITLE: PHARMACIST ASSISTANT
Workplace: Mogalakwena Private Hospital (Mokopane)
Position Type: Permanent
Purpose: Assist in the accurate dispensing, stocking, and management of medications and pharmacy supplies, supporting pharmacists and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Accurately dispense medications under the pharmacist supervision, provide patient counselling and respond to any doctor’s queries as per statutory and hospital protocols.
- Maintain high levels of patient, Doctor, and consumer service through effective communication and professional relationships.
- Ensure proper stock management, including inventory control, barcoding, timely replenishment, and housekeeping of pharmacy supplies.
- Support clinical pharmacy initiatives, infection control programs, and contribute to in-service training or sessions where required.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement by identifying efficiency opportunities and contributing to team problem-solving.
- Safeguard pharmacy assets, operate within defined authority limits, and comply with labor, safety and hospital policies.
Qualifications:
- Matric Certificate
- Relevant SAPC certification
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a private hospital pharmacy
Skills and Attributes:
- Knowledge of basic pharmacology, medication handling, and dispensary procedures.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work under supervision and follow hospital protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure and follow hospital protocols.
- Computer literacy for patient record systems.
