THEATRE RECOVERY REGISTERED NURSE
JOB TITLE: THEATRE RECOVERY RN
WORKPLACE: Mogalakwena Private Hospital (Mokopane)
POSITION TYPE: Permanent
Purpose:
Provide specialized post-anesthetic nursing care in the recovery room, monitoring and stabilizing patients following surgery to ensure safe recovery, effective pain management, and early identification of complications in line with clinical and regulatory standards.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Deliver specialized post-anesthetic care through continuous assessment, monitoring, and stabilization of patients in the recovery phase, ensuring optimal clinical outcomes.
- Maintain patient safety by adhering to infection control, medication management, emergency response, and hospital safety protocols at all times.
- Identify and respond to post-op complications, including respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and pain related changes.
- Accurately document, evaluate and communicate patient progress to ensure continuity of care across multidisciplinary teams.
- Safely operate and manage recovery room equipment, including monitoring devices, ventilators, infusion pumps, and emergency resuscitation equipment.
- Uphold professional, ethical, and regulatory standards including patient rights, confidentiality, risk management and quality improved practices.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment while maintaining accountability, clinical competence, and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Matric Certificate
- Relevant SANC certification
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years working experience in recovery within a private hospital
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work sensitively with people of different backgrounds.
- Strong patient centered approach with a caring attitude.
- Has a solid and clear understanding for patient confidentiality.
- Must be familiar with private hospitals, theatre recovery procedures and policies.
- Fully conversant with theatre recovery procedures and policies within a private hospital
